A Good Weekend

Eric had a good weekend at home. He visited the BMT unit daily for antibiotics and received blood / platelets as necessary. He is back inpatient as of yesterday and a different round of antibiotics has been initiated. With no immune system, the goal is to keep him free from infection and we expect he'll be on some sort of antibiotic until the next transplant.

We certainly appreciate the flexibility that the BMT team has shown, allowing Eric to be home when possible yet quickly re-admitting when required. Next week, the rest of the family will be in the Dominican Republic for Shelley's (Eric's big sister!) wedding. I am so looking forward to the trip and the wedding but I am equally sad that Eric and Morgan will not be travelling with us. Morgan and her family will be Eric's 'home team' while we are gone and of course, the BMT unit will continue to give him the support he needs. Luckily, phones and internet access will keep this Mom connected.

Eric reads the blog and all your comments regularly. Maybe we can convince him to keep it updated next week! As always we appreciate all your support and care and concern. I know that a few special people will comment regularly letting Eric know that they are keeping an eye on him from a distance too.

Hey, a weekend at home is wonderful. There's nothing like your own bed. I'm so sorry that you can't all be in the Dominican Republic but it seems like you have a great home team. I know all too well how hard it is to be mom and not be able to be there all the time. Take care and love, Alison (Adrienne's mom)

Hugs, Kathy - what a lot of conflicting emotions you're having to deal with.......joy and happiness for your daughter's impending wedding and pain and anxiety over leaving Eric. I hope you'll be able to relax in the Dominican Republic and enjoy what will be a beautiful occasion - as Alison says, Morgan and her family sound ready, willing and able to take your place for a while..........sending so much love........Vx

If Morgan, and the 'rents need some space, you know who to call to join Eric up north ;)

Wish I had all the magic answers Kathy, just enjoy the wedding. As all mothers, MUST :) And know that Morgan, and the hometeam, will be on their toes no matter what.

Eric is so lucky to have so many, who care from him. As are you dear,

I'll be thinking of you two extra hard this week, and sending my vibes up to him.

Sending Love
B

Eric, we will miss having you there on Dave and I's wedding day, but know that we will be thinking of you every day of our vacation.

We'll take a vacation all together when you have beat this. :)

And we know Morgan and her family will take extra good care of you - as they always do. Thank goodness you have so many people looking out for you.

Eric I Have only met you once But have been trying to keep up to date on what has been happening. Know that you are in my prayers and thoughts. The vibes I have been getting by reading all the comments is that you have a very special second family who is there when your Mother can't be there to support you with most of your needs. I'm hoping that the wedding is giving her a chance to get a little rest and energy to be there for you to give you the support you need when she gets home.

Shelley I wish you all the best and may your day be what you had hoped it to be knowing that Eric will be there in spirit. Congratulations and may God bless you all. Love Tine.
